5K Fun Run
The Hypertension 2008 Conference offers a unique opportunity to become active in the fight against hypertension: A 5 km long fun run (mini marathon) through the Tiergarten, also known as Berlin‘s green lung. For details, please check the Social Events section.

Abstract CD
The official Abstract CD is available at the AstraZeneca booth in the exhibition. Vouchers are available in the congress bags.

Accommodation & Hotel Service
For questions regarding accommodation, please visit the Hotel Counter in the registration area.

Business Center
A Business Center is available near the registration area for all delegates, offering print, fax, email and telephone services on a self-pay basis.

Catering
Saturday, 14 - Sunday 15: Catering will be offered in Hall 2.
Monday, 16 - Thursday 19: Two Catering Areas are available, one in each wing of the exhibition.
Lunches require pre-paid lunch vouchers; only a very limited number will be on sale on-site at the Social Program Counter.
Lunches include a selection of dishes including soft drinks, water, wine and coffee and are served between 11.30 and 14.30 every day.

Certificate of Attendance
The Certificate of Attendance will be available on-site. To print your Certificate, please visit one of the Certificate/CME Print stations.

Cloakroom & Luggage
Cloakroom service is available in the entrance area on a self-pay basis. Only limited luggage storage capacities are available.

Concert Evening
Additional tickets may be available for sale at the Social Program Counter. For details regarding the event, please see the Social Program section

Continued Medical Education Credits

The conference has been accredited by the Ärztekammer Berlin and by the UEMS for Continued Medical Education Credits:

German Delegates: Hypertension 2008 has been granted a total of 36 CME credits, 3 per half day.

To receive your credits, please visit one of the Certificate/CME Print stations. Please note: To get a CME certificate, the following conditions apply:

-    Credits are assigned on a half-day basis.
-    You can only print CME certificates for periods in the past
-    You must have attended the conference at that time

Example: As the official scientific program of Tuesday 17 ends at 18.00, you may, starting 17.00, print CME certificates for Saturday, Sunday (Germans only), Monday and Tuesday (4 days x 2 half days x 3 credits = 24 credits), but only if your attendance has been registered for these times. You may print out additional certificates for further attended sessions any time until the end of the conference.

Please make sure to have your badge scanned properly every time you enter the conference.

International Delegates: Hypertension 2008 has been granted a total of 30 CME credits, 3 per half day, with the exception of Sunday, June 15.

To receive your credits, please use the International Certificate of Attendance and contact your local authorities.

Official Statement:
Hypertension 2008 is accredited by the European Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (EACCME) to provide the following CME activity for medical specialists. The EACCME is an institution of the European Union of Medical Specialists (UEMS), www.uems.net.
Hypertension 2008 is designated for up to 30 hours of European external CME credits. Each medical specialist should claim only those hours of credit that he/she actually spent in the educational activity.
EACCME credits are recognized by the American Medical Association towards the Physician’s Recognition Award (PRA). To convert EACCME credit to AMA PRA category 1 credit, contact the AMA.

Conference Bag
The conference bag, containing the conference material, may be obtained at the Conference Bag Counters, located in the registration area.

Currency
The national currency in Germany is the Euro (€). All payments will only be accepted in € either cash or by credit card (Visa/Mastercard/American Express/Diners Club). Please note that neither checks nor EC/Maestro cards will be accepted. An ATM is available on-site. For on-site currency exchange, please ask your hotel for further information.

Disabilities
The ICC offers special access routes for disabled persons. If you require assistance, please contact the registration desk staff.

Exhibition

Hypertension 2008 HealthCare Day / Informationstag Gesunder Blutdruck 2008
The Hypertension 2008 HealthCare Day is an information event targeted at patients and people with an interest in hypertension. Kindly note that all talks and discussions are in German language.
It is organized by the Urania Berlin e.V. in cooperation with Deutsche Hochdruckliga e.V. and the Berlin Medical Association. An initiative of Hypertension 2008.
This session does not take place at the ICC. Admission is free of charge, no registration is required.

Insurance and Liability
The conference organizer and the Hypertension Conference Secretariat cannot accept liability for personal injury, loss of or damage to belongings of conference participants, either during or as a result of the conference. Please check the validity of your own insurance.

Internet Area
An Internet Area is available free of charge for participants in the exhibition during exhibition opening times, offering desktop computers as well as ethernet cable connections (RJ-45).

Language
The official conference language is English. No simultaneous translation will be provided, except where indicated otherwise. Selected sessions are offered in German language only. Please see the program section for details.

Live View Area
The Live View Area located in the exhibition features a live transmission from all session rooms, allowing delegates to easily join several sessions without having to switch rooms. The Live View Area also features the Hypertension 2008 Video News program as well as further special announcements.

Lost & Found
Lost items should be returned to the ICC Information Desk in the entrance area and will be stored there until the end of the event. After the event, lost items will be kept for a limited time at the Messe Berlin Lost & Found Office.

Lost Name Badge
If a delegate loses, misplaces or forgets his name badge, a handling fee of € 30 will be charged for a new name badge. Return your original name badge to the registration counter to receive a refund. Please note that replacement badges will only be issued without social event tickets and lunch vouchers.

Medical Assistance / First Aid
If you require medical assistance, please contact the registration desk staff or any organizer staff at the venue.

Museums Evening
Additional tickets may be available for sale at the Social Program Counter. For details regarding the event, please see the Social Program section.

Name Badge
A badge is required for admittance to all official conference sessions and events. Each participant is asked to present the badge in order to gain access to the conference. The name badge must be worn and clearly displayed at all times. Your badge will be scanned for statistical and control purposes. Please note that offering your badge to be scanned on exhibition stands or during satellite symposia implies your acceptance that the exhibiting/organizing company may contact you, using your contact details as submitted to Hypertension 2008.

Name Changes
For on-site name changes, a handling fee of € 30 will be charged. Please note that name change badges will only be issued without social event tickets and lunch vouchers.

Parking
Several parking facilities are available in close vicinity to the ICC; you will find a map on the back side of your badge letter. Please be aware that parts of the city belong to an environmental zone (“Umweltzone”) with limited access (especially for older cars). Special stickers are required. The ICC, however, is located outside this zone.

Poster Area
Hypertension 2008 features two Poster Areas, Area I in Hall 12 and Area II in Hall 17. For a detailed overview, please see the Poster Plan in the maps section of this program. Posters will be changed daily; as a poster presenter, please make sure that you have identified the correct time and location.
Posters must be placed between the hours of 08.00 and 10.00 and removed between 18.00 and 19.30.
Posters that are not removed will be disposed of. Material to attach posters will be provided in the Poster Areas.

Program Changes
The organizers cannot assume liability for any changes in the program due to external or unforeseen circumstances. Please check the website for regular updates. The organizers reserve the right to cancel, postpone, relocate or change any of the sessions.

Press & Media
The press office staff welcomes all journalists to the Hypertension Berlin 2008 congress. Journalists will be admitted free of charge and may participate in all sessions. A valid press card is necessary for your registration which will be accomplished in the press office (room 42, located on the press level on the walkway) where you will also receive your conference badge. All necessary information regarding the conference, its speakers, press conferences as well as background material will here be available as well.

Standard ISH/ESH/DHL Member:

Prices include: Admission to the Scientific Program, Admission to the Exhibition and Poster Area, Admission to the Opening Ceremony, Welcome Reception & Closing Ceremony, and the Conference Bag containing the Final Program and Abstract Book, Lunch Vouchers (6 days), Public Transportation Ticket (6 days). Society members are also allowed to attend the (Annual) General meeting of their society; additional entrance checks are at the disposal of the respective organizers.

Standard Non ISH/ESH/DHL Member:
As found above, but without access to general meetings of the societies.

Basic Registrations
Basic registrations follow the same conditions as standard registrations but do not include lunches or the transport ticket.

Media & Press
Free access to all conference venues is granted for all registered and accredited media representatives.

Smoking Policy
It is forbidden to smoke in any part of the conference venue.

Speaker’s Center
Invited speakers, chairmen and oral abstract presenters must report to the Speaker’s Center at least two hours prior to their presentation in order to check and deposit their presentation. The Speaker’s Center is open during registration opening hours. For details, please refer to the speaker guidelines that have been distributed in advance.

Taxi
Taxis are usually waiting outside the ICC curbside at the lower level. You may also order a taxi at the ICC Information Desk.

Telephone (Public)
A public telephone is located in the entrance area of the ICC, working with coins/credit cards.

Tours
Six tours that feature the highlights of Berlin are offered to participants and accompanying persons. Please check the tours section in this program for details. Pre-reserved tickets and on-site tickets for the tours are available at the Social Program Counter.

Transportation
The Berlin public transportation system covers all areas of the city perfectly. The suburban railway system as well as busses and trams will take you within minutes to all places of interest. A special ticket (BVG Ticket) valid for the duration of the conference is available for all delegates who have pre-ordered it (Zones ABC, covering all of Greater Berlin). The ticket is (if ordered) integrated in your conference name badge.

Travel Grants
Recipients of travel grants can choose to be paid their grant money directly on-site in cash (Euro). To receive your grant money, make sure to bring your written confirmation and a valid, official photo ID with you to the Travel Grant Counter.

Video News
The Hypertension 2008 Video News is a unique service: With a daily 10 minute video feature, you will be up to date about all the main events and news from the conference. The Video News will show in the Live View Area, in the session rooms and online at www.hypertension2008.com

Webcasts
All plenary sessions, teaching seminars and educational track sessions will be available as webcasts online at www.hypertension2008.com. This feature allows all delegates to recapitulate the contents of these sessions and use them for their own education. Webcasted sessions are marked with a special symbol in the program section.
